Register for NCNLP Testing

The next Nebraska Certified Nursery and Landscape Professional (NCNLP) exam will be held at Metropolitan Community College – Fort Omaha Campus (Horticulture Building, Room 105).

The exam consists of three sections:

  • Manual/General Knowledge

  • Landscape Design

  • Plant Identification

The NCNLP manual and study materials will be emailed after you register and pay for the exam. Testing is offered twice each year and certification is awarded to individuals, so please register using your personal information.

Exam Schedule

  • 9:00 – 9:30 AM: Review and Q&A with the NCNLP Committee

  • 9:30 – 11:45 AM: Landscape Design

  • 11:45 AM – 1:00 PM: Lunch (on your own)

  • 1:00 – 2:00 PM: Plant Identification

  • 2:00 – 3:00 PM: Manual/General Knowledge

If you are retaking only certain sections, you only need to attend during those scheduled testing times.

What to Bring
For the Landscape Design section, bring drafting supplies such as pencils, a scale ruler, circle template, and any other preferred hand-drafting tools.

Parking & Additional Information
Parking is available next to the Horticulture Building. A campus map and additional testing details will be emailed the week of the exam.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancel 10 or more days before the exam for a full refund.

  • Cancel less than 10 days before the exam for a 50% refund.

  • No refunds will be issued for no-shows.

  • Registration fees may be transferred to a future testing date but cannot be transferred to another individual.

Important Manual Update
If you purchased your NCNLP manual before December 2022, Chapters 4, 5, and 14 are no longer included on the exam. Contact the NNLA office for the updated Plant Identification list.
