Lee Richard Vieselmeyer

Lee Richard Vieselmeyer, 72, of Lincoln, NE went to be with the Lord on July 24, 2024 at Bryan West Hospital.

Lee was born October 10, 195 in Superior, NE to Marwin and Erna (Degner) Vieselmeyer. The family moved to Davenport, NE when he was 3 along with his older brother, Dean. He attended St. Peter's Lutheran School in Davenport for grade school and then on to Concordia High School in Seward, NE graduating in 1969. He attended Concordia Teachers College where he played football from 1969-1970 as a defensive tackle. An injury ended his football career, and he chose to continue his education at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln where he got his bachelor's degree in agronomy in 1973. Lee returned to Concordia College to help coach football and tennis from 1978-1982. He had a love for sports and could often be found playing tennis, golfing, fishing and hunting. He always enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in all their activities.

Lee had many professional and business ventures. He started a fishery shortly after graduation where he raised trout and catfish. In 1973, he established Plains Tree Farm in Davenport, NE. Lee established DPM, Inc. in 1982 where he manufactured the nursery jaws. Oak Prairie Nursery located west of Lincoln was added as a second nursery location in 2003. Lee was nominated for many awards throughout his career. He received the Nebraska Nursery and Landscape Association Hall of Fame Award in 2008 and the Distinguished Nursery Professional Award in 2014. Lee was a dedicated community service worker who served as the director for the Nebraska Association of Nurseryman and the Davenport Development Association.

Lee married Judy on August 9, 1986 and received an instant family. Lee is survived by his wife, Judy; children Aaron (Jessica) Oltmans and their children Paige, Maia, Eva, and Chase of Davenport, NE; Amber (Corey) Soucek and their children Alex of Oklahoma City, Caloway of Lincoln, Keaton (Shaye) and their daughter, Porter of Lincoln, and Mckinley of Gretna, NE; and Avery (Michaela) Oltmans and their children Grace, Sophie and Samuel of Olathe, KS; sister-in-law, Dian Vieselmeyer of Tustin, CA; sister-in-law, Betty (Wayne) Miller of Lincoln, NE; brother-in-law, Ed (Ruth) Epley of Nora, NE; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Lee is preceded in death by his brother, Dean; his parents, Marwin and Erna Vieselmeyer; and granddaughter, Harper.

Lee had an unwavering faith in God. He touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His firm conviction in God's presence inspired others to embrace their own faith. Lee encouraged those around him to lean on their faith and trust in Jesus Christ. May we honor his memory by carrying forward his message of faith in Christ Jesus and unconditional love.
